Festival Waves & Wanderlust

Boho Bombshell

Festival Season is upon us and for those of you off to Coachella enjoy! I do have to say the ladies of PB&J are a little jealous to not be there this year, but are hearts are with all you music junkies. We have put together some easy boho looks that we hope will inspire the inner festival gypsy in each of you.

Ladies tend to go for a carefree hair style while attending Coachella. We thought why not put some simple curls in your hair and complete the look with a flower crown. Super easy and when the day gets a little too hot its a breeze to whip up into a pony tail to cool things down and still look cute.

Another great hairstyle that is simple to do is to add tiny braids throughout your hair. To get the waves, add a little mousse to your hair and let it dry slightly. Once your hair starts to dry divide into small sections and twist your hair. It should stay in place while you continue your morning. Once it is mostly dry you can untwist your locks for an amazing wave with no hot iron tools needed and it looks amazing. If your hair is too heavy to hold the twists you can also put it into small braids instead to achieve the wavy look. pbj4-8-2016-19 copy

This fun little blouse is adorned with tiny little mirrors and belled out sleeves. The perfect top for those warm desert days.

Coachella Recap – PB&J Style

As you might’ve seen from our Instagram this past weekend, I made it to Indio, CA for, in my opinion, one of the greatest festivals out there – Coachella Music and Arts Festival. Three sun-filled days of dancing to your favorite musicians and gazing upon the desert hills is quite possibly one of the best feelings in the world.

In a sea of crochet dresses, crops tops and John Lennon-style sunnies, it’s hard to find a unique style that stands apart from the 90,000 festival-goers. My trick this year: mixing the old with new. I chose some of my favorite items from PB&J and paired them with items I’ve had in my closet for years.

Day 1: I paired the Autumn Meadow Dress with a long Free People dress I’ve had since high school. The simple gray chiffon paired with Raga’s bold and boho patterns was a look I loved!

Watching the Alabama Shakes as the sun went down on Friday was something you weekend 2 goers do not want to miss.

If you’re worried about the heat, take a walk over to the Do Lab. This small stage is shaded and there is water sprayed from every direction. Dance while you cool off – there’s nothing better.

Day 2: I decided to wear the Wild and Free Romper with an older pair of Born boots. This outfit was loose fitting, comfortable and an easy transition from the hot sunny day to the colder breeze at night.

Day 3: On the last day, I wanted to keep the outfit simple and play up my accessories. I chose my Levi’s cut-offs, a Knot Sisters tank, Quay sunnies and a Bed Stu leather belt. My favorite part of this outfit was hands down my sunglasses. The exaggerated cat eye and matte finish was were so bold and glam 🙂Knot Sisters tank

Artist Spotlight – MØ

Hello and happy Friday to you all!

To start off the weekend, I thought I would share with you one of my current favorites artists and hopefully a new music find for you.

Karen Marie Ørsted, also known as MØ, is a danish singer with an electronic, indie-pop sound. I first discovered her album “No Mythologies to Follow” in September 2014 before seeing her perform at Treasure Island Music Festival in San Francisco. Sadly, I showed up late and only caught the last half of her performance, but I have to say after that I was hooked!

MØ has such a unique sound and I often find myself playing her songs on repeat. Her music mixed  with songs Banks, Lykke Li & Haim make for the ultimate girl band playlist. Below are a few of my favorites from MØ along with Lean On that she is featured on and just came out this year.

Enjoy 🙂

Lean On

For all of you heading to Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival next month, MØ is playing on Sunday. It is hands down one of my most anticipated shows to see.

Coachella 2014 Adventures

For those of you who have never been to Coachella, it might seem absurd that 100,000 people flock together in 100 degree weather to camp in the dust and skip out on a shower or two just for three days of music, but let me tell you, it is the best experience I have ever had. It is a weekend filled with good music, good friends, too many surprise guests to count and lots and lots of dancing.

The glowing palm trees, illuminated ferris wheel and unreal music truly make this place a music lover’s paradise. Not only is there amazing music, but there is not one single person in a bad mood. I was lucky enough to have this experience for my second year and I don’t plan to ever stop going.

I will be honest, the camping was a bit dirty but it was so worth it being so close to the festival. I was able to wake up, take a quick shower and head to the polo fields within no time. If you ever plan to go to Coachella, I would highly recommend camping! It just adds to the fun times.

If any of you are planning on going for weekend 2, have the best time! If I could relive this weekend again I would in a heartbeat. One tip I have for all you Coachella goers: Your phone will die immediately! My saving grave was my friends GoPro and it came it handy everyday. Without it, I would be photo-less.

I was lucky enough to wear all PB&J this weekend which was an absolute dream. Each outfit was easy to run around in and dance the entire day. Take a look at my Coachella adventures below:

PB&J goes to Coachella

Coachella, an anual music festival, is said to be California’s version of New York Fashion Week. It spreads over 2 weekends with 60+ bands. With all the hype, the PB&J team spontaneously decided to make the 596 mile journey to check it out for ourselves. And boy did it exceed all expectations!!! The entire festival had a free spirited and vintage chic vibe, with so much to take in for us first-timers. We spent the days par-oozing, dancing and simply enjoying all that Coachella had to offer. From various Indie and Rock bands to the amazing vintage style of the festival goers, we soaked it all in with bright eyes and open arms.

Fashion was so much a part of this event and it was truly amazing to see first hand. As for me, pictured in the middle, I opted for a casual-chic look and wore a Rachel Pally  jumpsuit. I wanted to be comfortable wearing something that was light and not restricting, and I was so happy with the result! Claire, on the right, is sporting our adorable Black Tulle skirt paired with a vintage muscle T printed with our PB&J logo. Kayla, on the left, is wearing black, high waisted cut-offs as well as a vintage muscle T.

We loaded up with tons of accessories and had custom PB&J hair bands made that we passed out along the way! We were loving the fun, leather Karen Kell pieces, so perfect for an event of this nature.

There were so many incredible shows, but some of our favorites included: Benny Benassi, The Postal Service, The XX, and Phoenix. For us fun-loving music lovers, Coachella turned out to be an amazing experience and is something that we look forward to in the years to come! Feel free to comment with your favorite Coachella trends, experiences and everything in-between!

Thanks for reading! Cheers, Laura
